Cheers To Another Birthday With Drake, Our Champagne Papi

We were disappointed to hear that Drake wouldn’t be visiting Los Angeles for his birthday this year, as we’ve helped him plan a few celebrations over the years. But, 2020, right?

His team surprised us with a call on October 22 at 7PM that there had been a change of plans, and Champagne Papi, would in fact be flying into L.A. to ring in his 34th birthday. And he wanted to plan a private birthday party the very NEXT DAY. We were excited to say the least. But we were also in “go, go, GO” mode – which honestly, is our specialty. Many of our celebrity clients have extremely hectic schedules and tend to plan for parties of their own on a tight schedule. We have become extremely successful at designing and producing customized and elegant affairs on demanding timelines.

Dinner for Drake began at Harriet’s Rooftop in West Hollywood, which offers gorgeous panoramic views of Los Angeles. We decided on a masculine, moody lighting design involving tons of uplighting in blue shades, groups of candles in varying heights, short vanilla floral arrangements by Rendezvous Flowers, and clusters of balloons by The Balloon Co. suspended overhead and framed by Edison light-bulb strands. The menu offerings were kept simple and focused on being incredibly delicious. Starters were choices such as fried calamari, sushi, Caesar salad, and baby kale salad. For the second course, chicken Bolognese was offered, along with steak frites, grilled shrimp, grilled cauliflower, or macaroni and cheese. Typos on the menu, however, went viral (disclaimer: not our menus). Fans posting on social media were either in a fit of laughter or outraged at the possibility that the macaroni and cheese dish actually contained raisins as an ingredient, as the menu was written. They weren’t!

Following dinner, the group headed to a private residence in Bel Air for the late-night festivities where they were joined by additional friends and family members. A DJ played Drake’s favorite playlist, while guests danced, drank cocktails, and enjoyed the hookah bar provided by SoCal Hookahs. It was such a fun night of revelry! The music only stopped for a bit when everyone paused to sing “Happy Birthday” to the birthday boy
