Drake's Narcos Themed Birthday Party

Inspired by the popular Netflix series Narcos, Drake opted to host his birthday party based on the infamous Colombian and Mexican drug lords featured on the show. Guests arrived to Goya Studios and made their way via a “drug tunnel” to get into the actual party, where they were greeted with a lively mariachi band.

A huge conveyer belt setup appeared to have tons and tons of “cocaine” winding down the “cartel” operation, made complete with a forklift to move around the heavy loads of faux drugs. Each bundle was stamped with Chico Amante meaning lover boy in Spanish. Stacks of cocaine spilling out from sacks onto the floor, alongside bankers boxes helped to make the area look like it was part of a stage set. Another conveyer belt indoors had women in bras and panties working to package the drugs – just as they are shown on the series.

Loose cocaine and hundred dollar bills, Loteria game cards, Mexican candy, and more were sprinkled on tables. Grand photos of Pablo Escobar were situated in several places, as was a miniature replica of an airplane to symbolize the plane that was used for transportation, while actual dirt bikes and Jeeps represented how the drug lords maneuvered through forests and fields. Not a detail was missed at this birthday event, where every corner was thoughtfully arranged to highlight a piece of the show. Even a hot-press station customizing sweatshirts commemorating the special birthday was made available to partygoers.

One room of the site was made to look like a chapel with the Blessed Mother showcased on the ceiling and walls – it made for a great photo op that guests really enjoyed! A makeshift altar embellished with dozens of lighted candles and short pews for guests to sit (or to pose on). The outdoor patio offered additional seating for those who wanted to dine and also played episodes of the Narcos series on a huge screen.

Tropical flower arrangements in masculine tones were crafted by Peony Secret, leather seating from Create Event Design allowed guests to get comfortable and take in the wow-worthy details, and delicious catering from Tacos El Chilango all helped to round out the theme for the evening. Sweet Deetails made the birthday cake to perfection – a narco holding wads of cash atop the confection with “Happy Birthday Drake” written in gold.
